Somos PAC Opens Second Texas Field Office, Expanding Door-to-Door Canvassing Operation
More than 4,200 doors knocked in TX-15 as Somos PAC expands its RGV field operation, part of $6 million Texas investment
McALLEN, TX — Today, Somos PAC opened a new field office in Hidalgo County, their second in TX-15 after Beeville’s operation in the northern part of the district, to reach Latino voters ahead of the November midterms.
The office will serve as a hub for Somos PAC’s work in the Rio Grande Valley. Somos PAC will use it to support its persuasion and mobilization program in TX-15 for Democratic congressional candidate Bobby Pulido, alongside Gina Hinojosa for governor and James Talarico for U.S. Senate.
"Hidalgo County is at the heart of the Latino electorate in South Texas, and we are ready to expand our operation to reach every voter in it," said Melissa Morales, founder and president of Somos PAC. "Trust is built by showing up, in the neighborhood, at the door, week after week. That's what this office is for."
Canvassers are already hearing it at the door. As of this week, Somos PAC's TX-15 program has knocked over 4,200 doors, and spoken with over 500 voters. Gas and food prices topped the concerns voters raised. The program is backed by bilingual paid media, including direct mail, digital advertising, and radio, delivered to Spanish-speaking and bilingual households in the district.
The message they are carrying to the doors is simple: Fighting for a Texas we can afford. Bobby Pulido will fight to lower prices for hardworking Texans by making the ultrarich pay their fair share and holding big corporations that unfairly raise prices accountable. Voters are also getting early voting dates and being directed to make a plan to vote.
The Hidalgo County office builds on the $6 million combined Texas investment announced in August, which includes a $2 million Somos Votantes nonpartisan voter education program and a $4 million Somos PAC program in TX-15, TX-23, and TX-35. It is part of a nearly $20 million combined investment across the 2026 cycle in Texas, Wisconsin, Arizona, Michigan and Nevada, one of the largest independent Latino civic and voter engagement efforts in the country.
Cost of living is what Latino voters are talking about. Somos Votantes' polling found that 81% of Latino voters in Texas are concerned about rising gas prices, 75% about inflation, and 76% about the cost of the Iran war to taxpayers. Nationally, 64% of Latino voters say costs have risen "a lot" in the past year, with 62% extremely concerned about grocery prices and 59% about healthcare costs.
