Somos PAC Launches Spanish-language Digital Ad Campaign for Gina Hinojosa as Texas Early Voting Ramps Up
Six-figure digital buy contrasts Hinojosa’s affordability plans with Abbott’s data center giveaways; Melissa Morales to be on the ground in Austin on Election Day
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Somos PAC announced a six-figure Spanish-language digital ad campaign to boost Gina Hinojosa in the Texas governor’s race, launching as early voting is underway. The two spots, “Abogada de los trabajadores” and “No te dejes”, contrast Hinojosa’s plans to lower costs for working families with Gov. Greg Abbott’s giveaways to data centers. They also highlight her Rio Grande Valley roots and her record as an attorney and state representative.
“Hardworking Texans keep doing everything right, but Greg Abbott has broken his promise to lower costs,” said Melissa Morales, Founder and President of Somos PAC. “While Texans pay more for gas and groceries, Abbott is handing out giveaways to data centers. Gina Hinojosa is from the Valley and has spent her career fighting for working people and will put the focus on lowering prices for hardworking Texans. We’re taking that contrast directly to Spanish-speaking Latino voters across Texas as they cast their ballots. Voters aren't asking for much, just real leaders who put them first. That's Gina Hinojosa.”
The ads are part of the $6 million combined Texas investment of Somos Votantes and Somos PAC announced in August, the largest of any state this cycle. That investment includes a $2 million Somos Votantes nonpartisan voter education program and a $4 million Somos PAC program in TX-15, TX-23 and TX-35. Somos PAC’s Texas program is anchored by door-to-door canvassing and bilingual paid media, including direct mail, digital and radio, and supports Democratic candidates in those districts, along with Hinojosa for governor and James Talarico for U.S. Senate. Somos PAC has two field offices in TX-15 and one each in TX-23 and TX-35.
Cost of living is what Latino voters in Texas are talking about. Somos Votantes and Somos PAC’s latest polling found that 81% are concerned about rising gas prices, 75% about inflation and 76% about the cost of the Iran war to taxpayers.
Morales, a Texan herself, will be on the ground in Austin on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3, to campaign for Hinojosa and be there as results come in. Details and media availability will follow.
