Somos PAC Launches Door-to-Door Canvass Program in California's 22nd District as Part of $500,000 Investment

Program will persuade and mobilize Latino voters directly in support of Randy Villegas

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Somos PAC announced its canvassing operation’s launch, part of its $500,000 investment in California's 22nd Congressional District ahead of the November midterms, with a program built entirely around door-to-door conversations with Latino voters.

The program has two goals: persuading and mobilizing Latino voters to support Randy Villegas, and helping voters make a plan to vote. Canvassers will walk voters through when, where, and how they can cast their ballots.
‍

‍"Five weeks out, the most effective thing we can do in this race is show up at the door," said Melissa Morales, Founder and President of Somos PAC. "Latino voters in the Central Valley are experiencing the same thing we're hearing across the country: costs are up, and they want to know who is going to do something about it. That's why we're putting half a million dollars in the congressional district for direct contact. We're going to meet Latino voters where they are, talk about what keeps them up at night, and make sure they have a plan to vote in November."

‍

Canvassers will make the case that Randy Villegas will fight for a California we can afford: lowering prices by making the ultrarich pay more in taxes and holding big corporations that unfairly raise prices accountable. Working people are struggling because Republicans care more about supporting Trump's tariffs and siding with the wealthy elite than helping everyday Californians. Californians need leaders serious about real solutions, so working people can get ahead, not just get by.

The cost of living is driving the conversation. According to our latest polling, 64% of Latino voters say costs have risen "a lot" over the past year, driven by grocery prices (62%) and health care costs (59%). Voters blame politicians over corporations for rising prices by a 3-to-1 margin, and blame Republican economic policies more than Democratic ones by 2 to 1. Majorities also link Trump's war with Iran to higher inflation (65%), gas prices (64%), and costs for taxpayers (63%).

‍

The CA-22 investment is part of the nearly $20 million Somos Votantes and Somos PAC have committed this cycle to reach Latino voters nationwide, including Texas, Wisconsin, Arizona, Michigan and Nevada. Each program is tailored to what the community and the race need in that place. In CA-22, that means going all in on the doors.
